Located in Gharwal Himalayas in the State of Uttrakhand, Dodital trek is a beginner’s delight. The trek takes you through dense forest and open meadows and eventually to the beautiful Dodital Lake and eventually to Dwara Pass Top at 4150 Meters offers mesmerising views of Dhauladhar and Greater Himalayan Ranges. At 3024 Meters Dodital Lake is a beautiful campsite surrounded by pine and oak trees the Lake is also home to Fresh Water Golden Masheer one of most famous trout fish in the Himalayas.
This trek in particular is also bird watchers paradise, the trek is full of rare Himalayan Pheasant’s which are not spotted easily. Some of the famous birds found here include Brown Fronted Woodpecker, Grey Tit,Himalayan Babbler,Red-Billed Blue Magpie, Grey Shrike, Bush Robin, Pink Finch, Munia, Common Chiffchaff, Himalayan Whistling Thrush, Himalayan Tree Pie, Tailor Bird, Himalayan Monal (Impeyan Pheasant) are commonly seen.

Day Itinerary:-

  • Day 1

    Rishikesh – Uttarkashi

  • 175 Km/7 Hours Drive

  • We assemble at our base Rishikesh and start our 175 Km Long Journey towards Uttarkashi. The drive winds along the rivers and valleys offering beautiful views and soon we reach Sangamchatti in Uttarkashi, our camp site for the night. After Dinner Overnight at Sangamchatti.

  • Day 2

    Sangamchatti – Bherva

  • 5 Hours Trek

  • We stretch our muscles ahead of the trek, after breakfast we head towards our next campsite Bherva. Initially we ascend gradually along the Paddy fields of the villages. The route is used by villagers living in villages lying along the trail. After crossing the villages of Agoda and Bherva we reach the campsite. After Dinner overnight at Bherva campsite.

  • Day 3

    Bherva – Dodital Lake

  • 7 Hours Trek

  • Today is a long day, as we head towards Dodital, it’s a 16 km long stretch and may take upto 8 hours depending upon your pace. The trail is a well laid path and is relatively easy. We trek along the route and halt at Manjhi Campsite and have our packed lunches. After lunch we trek for another two hours and get to beautiful Dodital Campsite. The lake is famous for Golden Masheer Fish however fishing is not allowed here as the lake is held sacred by the locals and has another name Dhundital (Ganesh Ji’s Lake) it also is known as birth place of Lord Ganesh. After Dinner overnight at Dodital campsite.

  • Day 4

    Dodital Lake – Dwara Pass and Back

  • 5 to 6 Hours

  • Today is our exploratory day, we start after breakfast and carry only our day bags with necessary items like water, packed lunches, ponchos, flash lights etc. Today we ascend the 4150 Meter high Dwara Pass Top, the top offers almost 360 Degree View of Himalayan Ranges which includes peaks like Swargarohini& Bandar Puchh. After having our packed lunches and spending some time at top we descend to the Dodital Campsite. Hot Lunch will be served, evening is to relax and explore the beautiful campsite. After dinner overnight at Dodital Campsite.

  • Day 5

    Dodital Lake – Bherva

  • 5 Hours

  • After breakfast we follow the same route towards the Bherva Campsite. The trek will take around 5 Hours and we will reach campsite by afternoon. After Dinner overnight at Bherva Campsite.

  • Day 6

    Bherva – Road Head – Uttarkashi/Rishikesh

  • Last day of trek, we have our breakfast’s and head down towards the road head where our transport awaits us to take us back to Rishikesh, trip ends.
